Short: Summit Rock Café!

(Click here to jump to the recommended song, Hot Dog by Buck Owens!) Howdy, Rebels! Welp, I can't pretend to live in "Vague New England Location" anymore. I do, in fact, live in Connecticut. You can collect your bet money now. Just saying it for those who found me through the TV Tropes "Random Media" button. And yeah. just as I thought I wouldn't have material for a while, if ever again, the inspiration came CASCADING over me like a tidal wave of creative influence. Okay, maybe this hobby isn't so creative. But still. Summit Rock Café is actually a part of Summit Studios in Manchester, Connecticut.  Summit Studios, a music school, has been around since 1995 but moved to its current Manchester location in 2000. They opened their store, Summit Music Center, in 2012. The café is a very recent addition to the business, having just opened in June 2022. In fact, when looking up the café, all I found were news headlines about its ope...

Yet Another Update Post (THE END?!)

Howdy, Rebels. I feel the need to let everyone know that I'm going to take an intentional hiatus- you know, as opposed to the recent unintentional one- in September. I have a month-ish worth of content lined up for August, because it's gonna be another themed month. So at least there's that. The Rebel Palate isn't going to end, necessarily, because I don't feel like it's been long enough, but I'm also not completely against stopping. I've learned a lot about how blogging actually works, about myself, and obviously about the subjects I've covered. It wouldn't feel like a completely pointless end...

BRITISH Cookie Crisp Box (And Other Countries' Designs)

(Click here to jump to the recommended song, Lobo Jones by Jackie Gotroe!) If you haven't already, please take my User Experience Survey. It's only ten questions, and it will help me improve things here on The Rebel Palate. Thank you. Right there, Rebels! I noticed that REAL ART on Food Packaging had an error. For some reason the picture of a Cookie Crisp box was missing. Finding a replacement obviously didn't take long, but I found something I didn't expect. You know what they say about happy accidents. That they, uh... exist. I'd criticized Chip the Wolf's design in the above post, essentially calling it uninspired and bland, but I had only seen the U.S. version. While fixing the picture, I accidentally found three main international variants on the design. Cookie Crisp is actually made by Nestle outside the United States. Turns out they're partnered with General Mills in what they call "Cereal Partners Worldwide"....
